How to share a course using Canvas Blueprinting
Want to share an entire course with other teachers? In this tutorial we will show you how to use Canvas Blueprinting to push content from the Blueprint course to its associated courses.
Savvas Realize supports the copying and sharing of assignments including Blueprinting. When you add Realize content and assignments to your course, Realize does not create a student's assignment until the student opens the assignment in their course in Canvas.
Step by step directions
Create a Blueprint course
To create a Blueprint course you will first just create a Canvas course.
Open the class you just created and go to Settings.
Under Blueprint Course click on the check box to Enable course as a Blueprint Course.
You can choose what is locked down and cannot be changed in the associated class. We suggest not locking down the Due and Availability Dates as you may want to use the course in the next school year.
Now that you set this course as a Blueprint course you will see the Blueprint icon.
Build out your course content.
Use this Teacher Guide to learn how to add Savvas content to your course.
Push content to associated courses
When you are ready to sync the content from you Blueprint course down to your courses click on the Blueprint icon.
Click on Associations to choose the courses you want to sync content to from you Blueprint course.
Select the courses you want to push the content to from you Blueprint course. Next click Save to sync the content to your associated courses.
Once the sync has completed, the associated courses will have the content you added to the Blueprint course.
Activate the course with Savvas Realize
Remember that you will need to open any one Savvas item in your course to active the class creation in Savvas Realize. Simply open any Savvas item in your course.
Choose the school your Canvas course belongs to and then click Select.
The class will now be created in Savvas Realize and your students will now be able to access their Savvas assignments.
