Step 3: Students link their Google user account to their Savvas account
In this tutorial, we show you how to get all of your students to link their Google Classroom account to their Savvas account.
Prerequisite: Make sure your students have joined the class in Google Classroom first. You can invite students or use the class join code in Google Classroom. See Google Classroom tutorial: Join a class as a student.
If you had students who joinied the class after you imported the class into Savvas Realize, you will need to update the Login with Savvas Realize assignment so that all students are assigned. Students will use the Login with Savvas Realize assignment to log into Savvas Realize for the first time.
Go to the Classwork tab for your class, find the Realize Login assignment and click the menu.
Next, make sure that All students is checked for the Realize Login assignment. This will allow any student who joins your class to see the Realize Login assignment.
Have students launch Savvas Realize before you create assignments
Have your students log into their Google Classroom account and select one of their Google Classroom classes connected to Savvas Realize.
Students will see an assignment called Realize Login. This is not an assignment, but instead just a link to Savvas Realize so that students can link their Google Classroom account to their Savvas account before you start adding Savvas assignments.
Have your students click on the Realize Login assignment, and then have them click on the Savvas Realize link.
Your students will be asked to log into Google or will be asked to choose their Google account.
Next, students will be asked by Google to grant Savvas Realize access to Google Classroom account. Have your students click Allow.
If your district requires account linking, meaning that students' Google Classroom accounts must be linked to their existing Savvas account, Savvas will attempt to auto-link for the student. However, if the accounts cannot be auto-linked, Savvas will ask them to log into their Savvas account once to complete the account linking process.
Account was auto-linked or your school does not require account linking
The student is done. The student can now see their Google Classroom class in Savvas Realize and can access their assignments.
